2010 C Boys

Another chapter of NTSS basketball boys journey started as our C boys started their west zone first round...
In their first game, they played with nan hua and lost...

Today, C boys played their 2nd game of the season against boon lay sec. It was quite a close game in the first qtr which ended 11:8.. with 3 points lead we played on... dragging the lead to 20 points 40:20 by the end of third qtr...
The boys were quite chaotic.. lacking in communications between players on court, players on bench with the player on court and coach with players on court...but on the other hand, usually by the time they work out how to communicate and play as a team on court... they had gone thru a few seasons,,, many many in school training camps... many nights of debriefing.. dreaming and reflections.... in short,they are usually graduating...

Actually I am quite happy to see the C boys winning today, most importantly some sec 2 has improved tremendously: Weaven, Fernando, Marc
In additions, we have some sec 1 who are pretty sharp...
However, they kinda do injustices to our New Town Basketball teams of the past 6 years.... their hair is due for hair cut... and there is even coloured hair... To keep up our 'reputation'... actions has to be taken... they are to reactify by next game or else they will be benched...

Hopefully they will mature fast and grow into their roles and responsiblities as NEW TOWN SEC SCHOOL TEAM PLAYER and continue the torch to bring glory to the school!

今年篮球男子乙组校际区赛和全国赛已经圆满结束。从一月至今，一路走来，真不容易，我校第一次夺得西区锦标及全国亚军。

我在此谨代表球队全体球员及所有负责老师再次向大家致谢。20 场球赛，校方协助安排为带队比赛的老师代课，科任老师帮助球员赶上功课进度。尤其是3月10日西区大决赛及4月30日全国大决赛这两场，众多的老师及学生热心组成拉拉队，到场大力支持，提高我校球员士气，我们衷心感激。

3月10日，我们荣获西区冠军及最有价值球员奖；4月30日，我们获得全国亚军，也同时获得体育精神及最有价值球员奖。我校球员在球赛中所表现出来的球技、高昂斗志及团队、体育、拼搏精神等，应该归功于全校师生的爱护与支持。我相信大家也会本着“"我爱光伟"”的精神，继续支持学校的一切活动。

A Letter from Mr Chua to New Town Teachers and Staff

Dear Colleagues,

The B Division West Zone and National Basketball Championships 2009 have come to an end. Our school team has created history by winning the West Zone Championship and was also the first runner-up in the National Championship. The team was also awarded the Fair Play Award at the National tournament and the captain, Lor Weng Siang, was also named the Most Valuable Player for both tournaments.

On behalf of all the teachers-in-charge, coach and boys, I would like to extend my gratitude to all teachers and staff for your support and understanding. Thank you for the numerous times when you had to do relief duties while we were away at the matches. Thank you for your patience towards the boys and helping them to catch up with their school work. I am also very thankful and touched by the presence of so many staff and students cheering the team on at the 2 finals. The support and encouragements given by the school have certainly spurred the team on to achieve good results.

Once again, thank you for all your support. May we continue to give our fullest support to all activities in school.

thursday (30/4/09)
the b division had their national finals' @ Jurong East Sports Complex
It was the NATIONAL FINALS and they were against Presbyterian High
It was the second time that they meet..the first was during the quarter finals
THat time, we won them and proceeded to the semi-finals
THis time we had to versus them again but unfortunately we lost..
It could probably be that our players were off form as we had quite a number of attempts but the ball did not get in...
Our defence to block out Russel was not bad and we had minimize his scoring rate against us..
but it wasn't enough as we only concentrate on russel and forgot about the other players..
Nevertheless our team did really great! Congratz to Presbyterian High and also congratz to NEWTOWN!
so our team got the runner-up for the b division National Championship..
Our school also got the most FAIR PLAY AWARD..
Weng Siang also got the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AWARD!!!!!!!!!!

B boys won Dumman Sec today!!!! First qtr was a breeze till Hubert starts to be out of syn with our plan... 2nd, 3rd and 4th qtr was very close match.. we are trailing behind most of the time... In the last min of 4th qtr we managed to catch up....

Last 7 seconds, we got the ball and the plan was to hold till the end... but at the last 3rd sec, with ball still in our possesion, the 10 players kinda pause the game... thinking a ref had blew a whistle... and the 3 sec tick... tick... tick... past and the game ended. Everyone was confused for a while, but the referees indicated they did not blow the whistle, it was from the next court...

It took everyone a minute before we understand that we have WON and cheered!!!
We are moving on to play National FINALS on 30 April 09 3pm at Jurong East Sports Hall with PHS!

Yippee!

We did not have much time to rejoice as we all rush down to support C boys' game.

C boys did well too!!! They fought hard... and kinda improve and more in sync with coach.
They won and they are 2009 West Zone C boys 2nd runner up!!!!
The scene is kinda of familiar.... same set of jerseys won the same placing in 2006... Subhas' batch wore it and won south zone 2nd runner up as well!!!

Finally the C boys can hit the books... before all the parents call me up to complain.... already some did....

We have started out our West Zone interschool B Division at Clementi Sports Hall for 2 weeks already.
So far we have won yuan ching 72:26, river valley 59:47 and Pioneer 59:28.

wish us all the best.. we need all the strength, luck, comunication, teamwork, accuracy in shooting, telepathy, support, focus, morale, commitment, character and concentration that we have for the past 3-4 years of training!!

2008 National B boys

WE play our first match of National Interschool Basketball B Boys Championship today!

We played against ngee ann sec team. they are all very tall.... they have a good variety of physiques in the team. thank God for Subhas, who is fearless and always motivating! He is our energiser battary #1!

Highlights:

- Finally we have a full team !!! HK is back! and CH is in!

- We defended our 1st qtr aggressively and end 1st qtr 7:0

- Sidney, another energiser battery , ran up and down, defence and offence, shot and score like one!!!!! Never say die!! and of cos our captain too!!!

-Hubert's play was high intensity, solid defense and rebound.. no slack! plus a beautiful turnover that he finish off with a single hand lay-up!! xcept for his over zealous elbow... ...

-nic played well today!! he handled the defense and offence as our game plan needed!! Good job nic!!!

-last but not least!!! the player who got all the limelight........... trevor goh!!!

4th qtr, last min: Coach set a play....T was to shoot a 3pt in...

WS got the ball n T stand in position, WS pass and T bend and take shot... with a thud n chop! it hit the board and went right into the basket as planned n visualised by coach and team! Trevor first shot of the 2008 national championship! 1 out of 1 shot! amazing 100% accuracy! (so unlike the TG 6 months ago.. struggle to make it for training... skipping trg to play at cousin's plc... then his shooting is only 30%.... force to do 'correction' by shooting 70 3pts in before trg end...)

his defense has improved too... no longer harmless player.. you think you got the ball...he is like a nuisance fly... positioning himself everywhere to stick his hand between u n the ball.... hindering your play... Go trevor Go!!!! jia you!!!

Thank God for my daddies too!!! Who manage to find their way to BAS to support!!! Mr Nair and my dad!!!

Our next game is this friday at BAS 4:30pm playing against Gan Eng Seng... hopefully some seniors and supporters will come and support too!!!

Our Boys too!!! We were close to champion... 2 pts away...

but Shi hao last 3pt is so beautiful and magical!!!!

last attempt by sidney was a great try... if he got it in... we will be the champion n he will be the hero!!! Whatever it is... We are proud of our warriors who fought bravely!

It pains me to see our warriors injuried n not well... but we still stood together with coach and our seniors furthering our dream!!! Playing at zonal finals!!!

We are now in the second round of our West zone competition!

Played our 1st game with CTS... we won them 17 points... 52:69

Coach was there but sit on the bench leaving our boys to play on our own... Suhbas was lost for a while without his mentor... but found his momentum by 2nd qtr. Captain was as steady as usual... control the game well when he is playing... n bryan is stablising.. his defense is fast and offence is now more trustworhty!

Our weakest link.. he played very impressively in the first 2 qtr!!!! 3 cheers for him!!! It was the best defence and offence he ever played!! I pray he will continue to peak from here... maybe coach's video analysis is really helpful for him!! He is now our crucial link! when he work hard the team will perform very well, rebounds and defense... when he slack alittle.. we become not so sharp n tough...
btw... i guess he did make up his mind to journey with us...not bec he played well today. but the sacrifices he made to be in the journey... he bought a pants to replace one of his tampered pants...stayed out of trouble for a month... sit in front during lesson i heard.. n staying out senseless conflicts in class...

We had quite a bit of loyal supporters today!

We played against one of the strongest team in West Zone today...
We lost.

where should I start...

by 3rd min in first Qtr, JSS had foul trouble... it was like a gift to us. We tried to utilise it to our advantage but was only managed to have a lead of 3 points. In 2nd qtr, we fought hard and well...but we lost 1 point lead. 3rd qtr... we focused on defence and managed to lead 6 points.however in 4th qtr...our defense were slower than JSS... they have many easy baskets... the turning point happened with JSS 7 put in a 3pointers and we lost the lead... 53:54. after that our cap n vice cap did their best to score but was still 1 point short...

Our regret was to misplace our trust... n our weakest link was still not ready for the season... he is still undecided... after the few months preparations... all the mornings we spent.. all the breakfast i tried to match his preferences... all the afternoon matches we had.. n evening sessions...all the sweats n pain.. n blood shed... the time we went through the whole holiday.. after his "jiang zhen de"... after setting our goals and SOPs.. just a few weeks in school he lost it all... piece by piece...week 1 was running around in school pretend to look for teachers... week 2 was refuse to cut hair.. week 3 was siaming LJ then make up during training day.. week 4 is ear stick... tampered pants.. he could not make a stand... he allowed other classmates with nothing to lose.. no dreams no goals no future in mind.. no talents... no potential to influence him... sigh... so much for commitment to the team... he can't even commit to our team's goals n SOP.. so much for character... he can't even live out the sportsmanship to face challenge n be a role model n shout to the world n prove it NT student can do it(just as the team believed in him that he can n he did show us he can in the holidays, jus when i tot i have a legacy maker in the team)! So much for concentration... he can't even raise his hand to do a proper defense for he fear of being injuried when girls can do it much better than him with better timing and posture... he dun even dare to touch ball when he is near side line for fear of being out... he fears... he wasting his energy on things that is not constuctive... playing hide and seek with teachers and their advice... he waste his time fearing foul end up fouls out still bec of his hestiant.. his undecisiveness... unability to go all out with us... he wasted our time n effort... wastes coach's care n love for him... who is so ever patience n care in nurturing him.. who believe he can when no one even though he could... who gave him opportunities that many better players dun have.. in the end... he is still undecided... selfish and still wondering what he wants... the big I in the team...
If he will wakes up tomolo.. decided for himself what he wants...
We will be better than gold! we will be tougher than today... focus... faithful to our mission... fearless...

2008 A BRAND NEW SESSION

A BRAND NEW YEAR, A BRAND NEW SEASON...
IN A BRAND NEW ZONE...
A BRAND NEW TEAM!! so a new but not brand new blogskin... but this blog is revived!!!

The new team is different... less people for one... more disciplined... more focus... younger...
BUT...
have the same passion, hunger to play basketball!
on the same journey since last B boys division...
in fact.. for the past 6 months.. they have travelled and experienced a lot.. this team had a bumpy ride... always no full training squad...

yesterday we played our first game in west zone against jurong west sec. Thank God who lead us in triumph! tomorrow we will be playing against Jurong sec... second in WZ last year... looks like we got a tough game tomolo... I pray for God's will be done! (only then i know it is will be the best plan for us...)

Hope to see all our faithful supporters tomolo!! Especially the seniors who started the legacy and the seniors who continued the legacy... support the team who is attempting to further the legacy... and of course.. all the parents and friends who cheered us and see us grow!

Happy Birthday Singapore!!

Haven been blogging as life was hectic and crazy... now is kinda of changed gear... bec I cant move as fast and do as much as before....

Had my operation on monday, which doctors cut my tendon and drill two holes in my bone then screww the tendon on as my new ligament....

Was discharged yesterday... kinda of regreted.. should have stay in hospital longer... everything at home is so not wheelchair and crutches friendly... at least at hospital, help and nurses are a button away only.. at home... it is so hard to even move from study room to living room to toilet... at hospital have more pain killer like morphine then can't feel anything at all... at home.. leg feel sore, pain and numb and heavy and troublesome!

Out of these misery, i see comforting things and feel blessed by people around me who showered me with care and love and help. For example, my 4 daughters and 2 sons.. XR n my basketballers.... and of course my dear bro who accompany me in the night at hospital... my dad... n many other who visited/ prayed/ sent their regards to me have blessed my heart...

one beautiful moment was when my basketball boys turn up at my ward. They were so sweet and nice. all except one was in full uniform, no ear sticks. It was so sweet of them to visit me. In addition, they actually brought a hamper with little floral arrangement with them. As their teacher, one who worry abt this bunch of boys will only know how to play bballl and not grow into gentlemen with grace.... I am proud of them! Guess they do know things beyond basketball.. all the soft skills... I wished I can capture that moment and frame it in my heart forever!

Today's training like no training like that..at first captain NEO called me while i was sleeping and it was 8pm and i didn't know that he called me...i tot it was junjie.. was damn tired la and i anyhow answer his question haha..i said i dunnoe whether got come training cause i really damn tired la..then after his call i woke up..then i called trevor..he said that he not going..and i told him that i aso dunn wann go liao lol but i in the end aso go.. haha so i called hubert and asked if he got go and he said that he is going..so i go lorr..at that point,i still dunn noe that he called me earlier.lol..so went to school tiredly and finally knew that hubert called me at 8pm! lol okiie we have training..but nobody except me zhonghan junjie hubert came..and amir came at about 9pm..me hubert and junjie was training abit on half-court cause the other court the girls are using..junjie and hubert was practicing center moves and i was there to pass the ball to them...so i was sooo slack..then girls used the whole court so i teach amir left-hand lay-up and wooh he now already know how to left hand lay-up lerr haha..so basically training was damn slack and after training we bought food to zhong han house to eat...me hubert junjie and of course zhong han went to"play"at zhong han's house amir didn't go cause he got tuition but he bonded with us during training alot...so we went to zhonghan's house to so call bond with each other lol anyway tomorrow's match against gan eng seng we must win! and queesnsway tomorrow must win also.go queesway! GO NEWTOWN!! GO NEWTOWN!! jiayou for tomorrow's match

ACS (International) vs NTS

Today is the start of our C Division South Zone Interschool Basketball Season!

We played against ACS (International) today.

Our 1st quarter were surprisingly steady. We managed to defend and score quite a few. As the oppenent was a bit slow in moving their defense, we manage to create space at Xiang Rui's point n score a few baskets insluding fast breaks. We managed to lead 1st qtr with a score of 13:7. In this quarter, our Captain was under pressure n nervous so did not play as well as he should. Coach kinda of scolded him a little, but before he return to court, Coach encouraged him and ask him to 'jia you'.

Second qtr was about the same. Except with the help of Captain, Jun Jie did a very beautiful move and scored!!!

3rd qtr was quite bad. somehow our offense made a few mistakes and players seemed tired... Our team play sloopily. in 3rd qtr alone, we scored only 6 but they scored 15.

4th qtr was mind wreaking. We lost our lead and drawed at last 22 sec. Coach called for timeout and helped the team to catch a breather as well as re-organised them. Gave them instructions what to play. Thank God that our boys were clear minded and obedient. We did as planned and Captain score an under basket drew a foul. oppenent fouled out. We got a free throw... and Thank God we put it in and we won!

Phew!

After the game, our players were reflective and decided to take the new learning points to practice. They adjusted their shooting n running... all were hard working to amend and practice. All on their own, with the sec 2 leading them. If they continue to be reflective and united, i guess we can go quite a distance in this season...

I haven been blogging... too busy to sit in front of computer....

First week of school holiday flew past as i attend staff meetings and workshops and more meeting.... and of course basketball training...

2nd week...
mon: spent the whole day preparing sec 4 lesson material and the actual lesson took up the whole afternoon.... n had tour briefing in the evening
Tue: same as mondAY except morning got basketball training at GES.... more hectic n draining.. evening went to buy stuffs to prepare for guizhuo's trip
Wed: went back to sch in the morning to clear some admin work... then off to AH for attachment

The attachment today started off with 30 min of waiting for a fellow attachee... waste time sigh... then we went to ward 2 which is the C class male medical ward... the senior nurse hosted us the whole afternoon. She is very nice n informative. The interaction with the staffs and patients there help us to know more about nursing...
learnt that career prospects is not bad as nurse... there are 3 tracks which are all quite good n need masters degree.... n to be a nurse must not scare of blood.. n they have to be the 'last officer' who clean up the deceased... n they are like any uniformed group... 'discipline' is there... they cannot choose their patients n job scope... n junior nurses have to take orders from senior nurses.... the job is quite stressful.. one nurse have to take care of 12 patients.... lotsa of multi tasking...
they are on their feet the whole time n they got to work in shifts.... they also got to wash their hands very often... everytime after touching patient of stuffs... Nursing is definitely a calling with passion to serve.. for it is a tough job....

Super busy today!!!
my timetable is full today... n during my lunch break, something cropped up so it is not much of a break.... after lesson was basketball training. in between i tried to finish up my remarks for report books... training end at 6 plus today.. by the time i reach home it is already quite late... grab dinner from downstair n back to computer since then.. for the past 3 hours at the computer typing out 9 pages of MCQ worksheet that has lots of diagrams to scan.... just finish.. waiting for it to be printed....
Very tired now.. headache.. goin to zzzzzzzz land........

Went out w my girls aft srv yestesday.We had fun @kbox!! More importantly I feel very blessed to be use by God to be their spiritual mummy! I feel privileged to witness how God work through each of my girls n His grace and kindness flowin through them.

Initially, I thot it would be a little sad spiritual mother day for me... As somehow I had a feeling that my girls wouldn't be able to make it for srv... But God is great! He brought all of them to srv!! We all sat together!! Though no flower, no cake, special gifts from them, no special greetings n no celebration, it is still a happy spiritual mother's day for me! Bec God has restored in each of them some of their self worth @ altar call n restore peace n love in the family!! I find God is amazing! N I LOVE HIM!! N I love my girls even more now!!!

I'm @ basketball briefing now... Feel cheated. Instead of drawin lots, the guy went on n on abt character development.... Anyway it is good stuffs for players... Need to work w coach to impart more lifeskills to our players....

Had a difficult day today...difficulty in breathing n talkin n trying very hard not to cough n not to pass virus to ppl ard me...

Buried under 3 classes of marking, kept coughing as I mark. Mdm fong then decided to give me a birthday treat... So we went for high tea in town!!! It was yummy! Very tai tai leh!!! The food is very pretty...so pretty that I forget to take photo...-sigh...

Very blessed by mdm fong, not just bec of the treat, but she unknowingly taught me how my mummy may feel n how to love my own mummy! I really thank God for blessin me w her so I can learn how to treasure my mummy!! I pray her 2 daughters will love her more as each day passes!!

Waiting for dear dear now... Got a surprise for him... Actually nothing much, xcept a super yummy looking piece of chocolate cake... That I bought especially for him from town... But @ the rate I'm waiting... The cake may not be able to stay the way I 1st bought it...*coughing*

Having difficulty to blog.

A quick update:
I have been trying to finish up marking so i can return papers to students and also mid year practical papers are in.
Had a little social life on monday... we went out to sentosa at night n had a little gathering at cafe del mar at siloso beach. it is a nice place, had an early mini birthday celebration. WT bought me a present ordered online from UK. *felt so blessed!!*
Played MJ with bro last nite, had a catch up session with him about his malaysia trip....
today's n the coming evenings till Sat are all booked....

ask around whose the nationals top 4 in Singapore ?
yes Catholic High.
yes Gan eng seng.
yes Unity.
BUT I GUESS NOBODY WOULD EVER THINK ITS NEWTOWN ?
but yes we did it.
and we even earned a 3rd place.as we won Unity today 69-62.

match started off with Unity leading us by 16-8 points in the 1st quarter.we were like "haven wake up" those type. but then as the 2nd quarter started off. we slowly got our momentum. with wengsiangs 3 pointers and subhas rebounds. managed to pull back the points. not to forget our turn overs had cut down in the 2nd quarter.

as the 3rd quarter started. morale was getting so high. we took over the lead . little by little. situation was even tensed. Unity started to press us, but it did not stop us from scoring. fast breaks were more easy till then.and as we enter the final quarter. we were leading them about 1o points. and we slowly played, as we had score advantage. then not long after. final whistle went off .VICTORIOUS NEWTOWN

(:of course everyone was so happy.

went outside to debrief and took pictures tgt with principal and vice principal as well as coaches and teachers. THEN THE FUN PART CAME.WE THREW COACH UP THRICE! the 1st throw was horrible. coach nearly fell! 2nd was high! and 3rd ! was splendid! and as we predicted. coach fone dropped on the floor!

sorry ah our bad! did alot of funny things outside lah. dunknoe how to describe! after that went back in sports hall to change up and then watch the girls match between Jurong and Dunearn.close fight though. Jurong won . they were damn zhun uhh. :Das we went off. coach asked us to go eat tangyuan! i like it though! finish eating and then everyone went off. me and febian went cut hair at tanglin uh. i think its short la! ): who cares!

not being able to get out of class early sucks
not being able to be on the court to play for sch again sucks.

but its gonna be long alright! :D
To me, its an honour to be the vice captain of the bball team
i would say being the champion is 1 thing
but able to build a team filled with fullest devotion towards basketball
as well as building a great bonding among each and everyone,
is what i hope to see in one another.
even with the slightest conflict.
just let it go
or we knoe this are all obstacles that we shd overcome.
it might not be easy sometimes but what we wan is everyone
knowing the initiative to learn to give and take
to have such a good Coach and teacher
and not to forget team mates
it was a blessing to be in this team.
for the past few mths.
we've been training.
there were tough trainings, tougher trainings and even toughest training.
but we are not gonna be defeated by trainings.
disciplinary problems were seen at start when we were training.
but as we moved along.
this problem just disappear into nowhere.
and that point of time, i knew we have grown more mature!
camps were then organise to help team strengthen the bondings.
as well as building our strong mental.
targets were set by ourselves.
but i know Coach wants to reach the target as much as we do.
for he believes that we had the potential.
constantly pushing us and training us.
everyone improved in their skills as well as physical bodies.

a major problem arosed then
one of our players tried to put himself away from the team as he had problems.
we had nothing to do about it but can only persuade him to come back.
the decision lies in him as we cud not decide anything for him.
1 week has passed.
doing all we could to persuade.
but he still did not choose to come back yet.

on the 2nd week. perhaps our encouragement and perservering hearts has touched him.he came back and joined us.

i wouldn't know if others were happy about it.

but i know it myself.

i felt very proud for him.

competition were then just in a blink of our eyes.

everyone prepared for the competition for we know this year.

for the sec5.

it was our last year.

of course we want to make a name for ourselves.

and for newtown (:

making through the 1st round.

and then a heart-breaking 2nd round was very tough on us.

as we lost queensway by a small margin of 2.

we were all sad by it.

we thought that it was the end of our bball career in sec sch.

who knows.

queenstown won queensway and that in turn helped us.

we won queenstown and then emerged as 2nd for round 2 as Cat high was 1st.

South zone semi finals.

newtown and gan eng seng.

we were well prepared for it.

we fought a good fight,but still lost.

and went on to fight outram for 3rd and 4th placing.

we were then into nationals.

during the break b4 nationals.

we had another camp.

and this camp is really effective to each and everyone.

our team had even closer bondings and even understand more of each other.

once again.

targets were then set again when we enter the nationals.

and this time.

Coach and teacher was very confident in us.

Nationals started with our 1st match against Jurong.

we played a good game and beat them 58-43.

our confidence grew up 1 level .but the 2nd game was a major 1 for us which was against Woodland Rings, the North Zone champs.

but we fought from a losing match to a winning match with the score 44-43.

it was a bonus for us.

and the 3rd game was against Junyuan and we won them 77-37!
as we were 1st for our groupings.

and woodland rings 2nd.

we then draw lots and had ChungChengHigh(main), SengKang and Unity.

on the other hand. Cat high, Gan eng seng, Presby high and Woodland ring.

we were very surprised by our grouping.

and we knew we had a good chance to get into top4!

then our 1st match against Sengkang was a devastating 1 for us. as lost to them 53-54.

at that point of time.

we thought of nth. but to take down the 2 upcoming matches.

we met up the previous nights to talk about matches.

and i think that helped alot.

with great confidence .

we won Unity 54-38. and then winning CCHS 60-50.

Unity won Sengkang by 1.

and once again we topped the table.

Semi finals between Cat high and Unity.

and then Newtown and Gan eng seng.

we once played with them.

and now we are facing them again.

the nationals semis.

but we fall to defeat losing them 64-39.

our final's dream was shattered but we knew we tried our best.

and Gan eng seng's a respectable team (:

with Cat high winning on the other hand.

they are gonna face Gan eng seng nxt wednesday.

to fight for the Champion title.

Now that basketball tournament is over, it is time to clear the pile of work that was stacked high up.

Got to settle IPw, amend exam papers... mark test papers, write SEL lesson plan... tutor my grad classes.... hmm... term 2 has been very eventful.. after tomolo we will be half way there... seems like 2007 is zooming pass pretty soon... turning a year older soon... sigh...

last year on my birthday got science mtg... this year.. got to go for a course till 5:30pm... sigh... of all days... some more it is in the middle of mid year exam... i doubt i will get to have any proper celebration... :(

We lost in the semi-final...

That was not the point.. the point was we played badly today... coach was fuming mad!!

Our players seemed like no energy.. mostly stand still n wait for things to happen.. no rebound... the feeling was we are not prepared for the match.. players did not rest enough the night before....

Before all these.. the 1st qtr was good... but when we were leading our players begun to play their own ways.. n did not follow coach's instructions......

we lose the lead... n the players still was not able to follow instructions... the margin just multiply.... The exchanges from coach were intense... He wanted save the situation many times but our players seemed to be on their world today.. we used up all our time outs... n they are still not playing as coach wanted.... Coach took WS out for 3 times... each time was hoping that he would get the point coach is driving at.... not to play flippantly... call play and pass... WS tried.. but his attempt was not convincing.. players were not communicating.. he din want to dribble so much either but the screens are not happenning... the rest were not able to free themselves n ask for ball either....

In a nutshell.. the match was badly played.... not bec we lost... bec we did not play as a team on n off court with coach....

after the match.. coach kinda flared as our sec 3 failed to gather promptly for debriefing.. coach felt that even we lost.. we are still a team... n win n lose is part n parcel of of competition... no acceptable reason that the sec 3 took their own sweet time to fall in.. coach was disappointed that they show such attitude....

DOm came into the pic and tried to pick up the pieces from there....

WS feeling very down...

Somehow he did not play up to coach's instructions....

Praise GOD!!!

Today all our spiritual children turn up for service!!!!

Just when I was surrendering all that I have to Him, In His time, He made everything beautiful!!!

It is a joy to see all of them make their own way to service.. I did not fetch them or help them arrange anything.... I must say.. they have grown up n matured each in their own aspects.... 2 of the sisters even prayed for me after the service in the big group!!!!! My faith grew!!! I felt so loved by them all when i felt their hands on me during the prayers..... n today johan prayed for the birthday boys n girl too!!! PRaise God!!

I pray that God wil add on to our family as we all grow together... we are not perfect.. but made perfect in Christ!!!!

WOOTS.SO NEWTOWN IS IN NATIONALS TOP 4 !its really something to be proud of for newtown . and i swear it is.not only bringing glory for school,team,teachers, coaches. and not to forget ourselves.

(:against Chung Cheng High (main). we had our scores tied at 1st quarter i think ? but as the quarter goes. we started leading them. ending at 3rd quarter. the score was 41-28 ? im not really sure about it cause im really too engrossed about the game? or maybe too happy for we are leading them! got alot of supporters ok!

:Dand yes. we won them 60-50. of course we are happy like dunknoe what lah! from losing to sengkang. winning unity and lastly. winning Chung Cheng! and thenn entering top 4! dunknoe how to describe lah! anyway. on the other hand. Unity won Seng Kang by 1 point. and that make us 1st for our group and Unity 2nd.went to eat mac with darlie joey teck and xing. then headed back to sports hall to catch the match between GESS and Catholic High. and on the other court . its woodland ring against presby high. wow. its really nice seeing the South Zone top 2 teams and North Zone top 2 teams going against each other again!
Cat high won. and woodland ring won. but only Cat high and Gess got in top 4 too. includin Newtown and Unity (: went home after the match was over. yupp.

tml have commedation day ? dunknoe what thing. then at night got Phantom of the Opera ? uh huh. saturdae have training in the morning. to prepare for semis on monday :D

NTS vs Chung Cheng High

It was a tough match in the beginning...

somehow we could not score as much as we should....

Thank God our defence was there...

we ended 1st qtr 10:10

2nd qtr was tough.. we were trying to catch up most of the time...

Then it was 2:30pm.. our supporters begin to stream in....

by 3rd qtr, We change court... we managed to put in many baskets....

we start to lead...\

All our supporters turned up...

including P, Mr Yee, Mr John Lim, AM, CCPE, other teachers n students....

WE won Chung Cheng 50-40!!!!

We step into National Top 4!!!

Woodland Ring Vs New Town

WE had a tough fight with woodland ring today.

Our first 2 qtr are very tough... some how our ball can't get into the rim!!!! it is so annoying! time after time the play is great, the shot is made but the ball will circle the rim then drop out of it!! Even when we use the board, somehow the board will reflect the ball away from the rim!!!! As if the rim is cursed.... sigh...

Our poor subhas was putting his strong front to play. His left hand is so swollen that he can't hold a ball properly!

BUt for the team!!! HE bravely play on, without complain. At a few critical movement, he stretched his hands to catch the hand and pass it out strategically, without mistake, just where it should be for the play. Other than a short while whereby coach let him rest, he played the full 40 mins (with the swollen paw!!!).

All these while, his mummy was very supportive but very worried for him as well...

Shuan Wong: You ought to be there to cheer him!!!

WE did not give up... WE fought hard... n chase afer every points we can make....
Finally at 4th qtr, 3 min 20thh second, Weng Siang put in 2 penalty shots and we draw!!!!

From there, we played on bravely and our morale is high! WE scored and widening the margin. Woodland ring fought back as well... but time is running out..... at in last 60 sec of the game, Woodland ring's possession, their controller tried to waste time by not passing just dribbling. our Coach gave instruction to let go dun foul let him be.... our players did that even though they want that ball very badly! for 40 sec they did that n then coach gave a instruction to disturb their ball n weng siang n darren did as told.... then they took a shot n missed!!!! Our player took the ball n fast break back but we did nto managed to score. Woodland ring took the ball back tried to do a layup but time's up!!! WE were overjoyed n cheered!!! but it was only for 2 seconds! bec referee blow a foul against us!! n they got 2 shots!!! we were all dead silent.... the boy put in the first ball.... we were preparing for overtime....... n we held our breathe when he did the second... the ball touch the board n the rim then............. OUT!!

Phew!!! We Won!!!!! We WON!!! despite that we did not play with our best conditions !!!! We make it to NAtional TOP 8!!!! Praise GOD!!!

NAtional round 1 started for us today.

Girls and boys team played against West Zone 1st runner up, Jurong Sec, today.

Girls team fought hard, injuried 2 players (lei n en) in the process... but we lost... Jurong girls' put in many 3 pts... whenever we had a blunder in passing they will score... sigh...

Boys team fought very well today!!!
In the beginning, we got possesion of the jump ball n score the basket. however, within a few minutes Jurong scored many baskets! they 12 we 2!! but steadily our players play basket by basket... defend every ball.... jurong end first qtr with 12 and we? 14!! I must say we had done our defence well!

In the 2nd qtr, our players beginning to launch a series of fastbreak!!! We had a great time cheering! We beginning to reap the hard work... all the runnings.... for our players are fast n they could recover fast as well! We managed to increase the margin to 20 plus 30 pts. the rest of the game was all focus on our defense... We WON the game by 13 pts (Just as C**** intended) 45:58

side notes:
MOE send a scholar to attached to our boys team turned up today. He is from China and he has been playing basketball for his schools n district since primary school. He feels that our team is quite good. He wil be with us every wed afternoon for the next 3 months. Hopefully, our boys can learn a thing or two from him.

Trying to have a quick lunch between periods....

I am struggling to adjust to new timetable today... I beginning to reflect my sec 3 CME lesson.... last lesson's focus:Change is part of life. hmm... nothin is at the standstill... when change come i try to be prepared....
today's focus is responding to change.... that is what i am doing now... trying to adjust to the change of timetable instead of groaning n grumbling about it... so far it has been quite constructive! i feel happier!

Haven been blogging as no opportunity to sit in front of the computer....

Today is slightly better though in the morning was hectic due to the ABC project.... i was tasked to be in the meeting room to help out.... plus tue morning timetable is full load...

Overall the ABC project turns out well!!!
All thanks to many people.... including my basketballers who have helped to pack the plastic covers... except for one class... all was packed correctly.

I printed some periodic table for my chem class for them to put on their desk...

printed some for my children... but haven got chance to pass to them...

going to pack table , mark papers and set mid year exam now....

1st day of trg camp.
Subhas was sick... Went to doc then home...

We check-in n had a short training in the morning before coach went out to pack lunch for us...

In the afternoon, we went to MI to play friendly with them, our girls won.

We played a few minz made lotsa of blunder, showed lotsa of attitudes.. Coach was mad! They played 1-2-2 defense, n our centre kept starting the play! Probllem created:Controller has no one to pass ball!No one communicated... we had quite a number of turnover.... our double guards was force to corner and could not pass...
then
The rain begin to poured heavily!!
We stop the game and run for the shelter.
They missed the chance to train for jurong's match, for jurong is known for 1-2-2 defence...
*the rain is still pouring*
The team waited in silence, looking down...
For they know they somehow did not do it right...
If only the rain will stop,
so they can try to breakthrough the 1-2-2 defence.

It was still pouring at 7pm, we began to wash up and make our way to west mall....
walked in the rain for a distance before we reach bus stop...

Here is the beginning of a week long of whirlpool...

MOrning is madness!!!
I rushed to school trying to do some admin but not sucessful.. then rushed to pick dear caroline up n her baggage for encounter... then rushed back to school to finish up more admin.. the consens forms, booking of bus... etc .. then was hijacked at office n lose some time...before i know it, it is 7:30am!!!! Oh no!!!! I quickly go to chem lab n prepared...

I should be going n course... yet i am rush back school n out n in again to run so many errands!!! i just feel so taken for granted!!!!

I conducted the chem prac for 4/3.... so that they wouldn't be lagging behind too much.. i wonder if they appreciate that... nowadays, the youngsters are so blessed that they believe they deserve it.. sigh...

by the time i finish practical... i am late for my course at queenstown!!!! the tension is so high i wish i can time out from this whirlpool!!!!! Can anyone understand???!!!!! NO!!!!

I rushed to my course about UbD and worked the whole day develping my lesson for sec 2 in term 2.... i wonder if they will appreciated it or not!!!

by the time course over, it is late... no time to go back sch to do admin!!!! *i am dying here!!!*

Rushed to pick dear up n bought dinner for my girls who could not reply me if what they want for dinner then rush back to sch to pick caroline up for encounter... the good thing is the 3 other sisters came along too!

by the time i reach home... the whirlpool is only getting worse!!!!
dear was very tired.. that left me to do all the cleaning up ronnie had made!!!!!!
I was mad at dear.. for also like the rest of the whole take me for granted!!!
I have not pack the bags fo r the trip..

talking about the trip... it is the only time i can spend with dear for the mar holiday. ironic right??? for i will be camping in sch... got G12 etc... i am sure we won't have time to clock our quality time together.. life is so hard nowadays that everyone think they have the right to own ur time n expect u to be here n there! I am simply too busy.... i wish i have more time for my family... n my girls... each of them.... sigh... if only i can go encounter with caroline... i pray God will touch her in mighty ways! I will spend my time to cover her in prayers for the next 3 days...

Dear dear is still not well...

I am away on course today......

I found out i would NOT be teaching sec 4/5 next term... sigh...

but good news is i get to teach a sec 2 class!!! yeah!!!

tomolo on course, then rush to bball prise presentation, then dinner, then meet the parent session....

sat... dear just bought a SPA package at batam so we can spend some quiet time together.... so we will be away.... till sun evening.....

Tue got Sec 4 prac, bballer training camp.. will be camping in school till thurs evening..... then rush to G12 conference!!!!!!! then G12 conference all the way to Sun service!!!!! then sch reopen!!!!!

It is a busy lousy day!!!!

my lessons is packed back to back!!! lotsa of admin to do between all the periods... I was trying to churn out the PPR reports.... see HOD for deployment arrangements... do up consent forms for holiday lesson n training..... markings are piling up...

at 4 pm i brought C boys to UWC for ISIBL.... it finished at 6:30pm... dear dear was super mad by then for waiting for me for half an hour.... n he got tummy ache... he is still upset both tummy n with me.....

sigh!

Today we were planning for our training camp.

basically it will be in school from 13 to 15 mar! I will be with them!

we have quite a cozy group. Aim is to bond n prepare this journey together.

I pray that the boys will benefit much from it!

at the same time, i hope they will grow closer to coach so when we journey on together they will know what coach want exactly on court! So we can play as ONE team in n outside court!!!

At the end of journey... i think it is not what placing we get... it is the journey we been through that is our trophy! as our school song: "... where we share our laughters and tears!" it is the team we have, the bond we foster! the pride that we know we journey as ONE team! no one! no other ppl can understand... I am honoured to be the teacher-in-charge working with them n for them....

Did i mentioned before?
Basketball is not a CCA, not a game, it is an addiction!
WE can never have enough of it!

My children just left...

Today all my 4 daughters n 1 son came to my house to 'bai nian'.

In the beginning was dreadful... it is like my house is quite far... no direct bus kind... meeting up is difficult for the girls... an incident happened to one of my girls n my heart dropped!!!! i feel so bad...

Then something else happened to the same girl which is quite sad too...

Sad things aside....

WE had quite a lot of fun... it was a long time since my 5 children are together laughing n playing n laughing our heads off!!! "***pee! ****Beeeee**!! Air***! See**! Air****!"

We played MJ... n we found Vic got MJ talent! kat not bad too.. won twice! caroline is very good! marcus is gentleman!

Caroline cooked noodle for us n it was super delicious! even that i dun usually eat noodle i actually had 2nd helping!!! yummy yummy!!! not a drop of soup left!!! She is chef in the making!!! I love her dishes!!!

Sasa left in tears.... when her mummy called to fetch her.... sigh... if not the day will be more perfect... anyway... i hope she is ok... n not be sad... we can organise more outing during holiday in June... or after streaming...

Then Febian fell, injured his knee. The score was 33:33

In 3rd qtr, 3rd min
Opponent team puts in a 3pt, the score was 35:38.

Then,WS put in a 3 pointer, helping us to tied with them at 38:38.

Despite of Febian's injury, he return to court with a knee guard. He did a jump shot and put in a basket.... the score was 45:40
Then WS put in 1 penalty shot, the second was a miss but Febian got it. Opponent fouled him n
Febian puts in 2penalty hots.. reducing the gap n the score was 45:43...

by the end of 3rd qtr46:46

In 4th qtr,

WS 'dribbled too much n turnover a few times... Darren once... and we had foul trouble.... opponent put in many penalty shots...Febian n darren got fouled out. XW's resistance not enough.. Dom had 4 foul.. dun dare to defend... we fought on... with all the chance we tried many 3 pointer... but none went in!!!! we took the rebound... tried again.. but still we just could not... Dom's hand was sprained... WS could not put in... JW also... Darren too...

Last ball we were not greedy... JW tried to lay up... but opponent's defence were strong..

we failed...

*Whistle went off*

We lost.... .....

Suhbas was very sad... he wanted to play in the finals so badly... that he did not heed the doc's advice... n gave his best shot at the game... n his wound split open again...

His tears were uncontrollable when coach patted his shoulder and says, "it's okay. we have put up a good fight." That was good not not good enough... he wanted to win n play in the finals... He lost a chance... by 1 pt last year... this year.. he didn't have the chance either.. 2 years of griefs were overwhelming to a 14, turning 15 boy...

It is a busy day!!! I was frantically trying to clear my work.... Keyed in the class attendance... rush class test marking.. keying in of marks... yet to key in the remarks!!! hopefully i can find time to do it tomolo!!!

TOday's training was kinda of affected by the downpour... HK n JH kinda of play truant... coach mentioned not letting HK play the next match.... sigh.. if are these 2 boys ever going to grow up??!!! but the good news is our next year B team is emerging... we have new faces like nic, n tian jie... luke is back! n bryan is back training with B boys at the same time helping out C boys! HK n JH better buck up....

BTW did i announced that our B Boys and Girls made it into Zonal Top 4 already!!!!! Praise God!!!!

Sigh!!! I hate to be on MC !!!

i am on mc yesterday n today.....lots of things are piling up... i was supposed to help caroline n vicki to get some copper wire... but i was knock out by the flu... there was supposed a class test on mon morning which i postpone to wed morning... today there is class test after school got Mac to help... there was match yesterday n i missed it!!! sigh!! n there is training yesterday afternoon n the keys were with me!!!! and i miss many periods today!!!!! it is a bad time to fall sick... nose still running... i wish i can chop off my nose... stupid flu bug from bukit merah mac!!!
Must be some inconsiderate ppl who still roam around when they are down with flu!!! ought to stay at home n rest mah!!!

Doc says flu will take a few days to a week to heal... so he gave me 2 days of mc to rest and to stay away from crowd... so i wont pass the bug on...

Kat got dentist n tuition today so the date is off.... n of coz i am on mc...

wed... got training... will end quite late.. hopefully my nose is cooperative by then...

thurs i got match at 5:30pm... leaving sch at 4pm... maybe can squeeze some time with kat...

So far... my 2 daughters are for it... dear dear is okay with it.... just have to work out the finance a bit... my bro feels that I should go for it but not this Aug, wait till he gets his first... which will be a few years from now...

These few days i have been thinking why do i teach?
TO do God's work... to fulfill His plan... so that i meet my 4 daughters... n 2 sons..... all these happened already... what's next? Continue? or move on? whatever it is... I know God has a clear message to me that He will guide me and lead me (psalm 25)

I jus receive a invitation to do Master in Science (Chemistry) by coursework at NUS!!! There is material chemistry option! Is this God's will for me? it will cost $30 000 for 3 years full time... there is also part time one.. but i dun think i can take it... teaching is a full time thingy.. no spare time for other thing... if there is i would have gotten my 2nd degree by now... sigh...

Maybe i will go for the briefing this sat before deciding.... need to submit application form by 15 march.... that is quite some time for me to pray about it...
